Our Take on UBS Visa Card Classic

Two networks for one fee. UBS's dual-card set bundles Visa and Mastercard at CHF 100.

The UBS Visa Card Classic earns 2 KeyClub points per CHF 1,000 spent at CHF 100 annually (first year CHF 50). Its standout feature is the dual-card set option: pair it with UBS Mastercard Standard for a single annual fee, giving you both Visa and Mastercard with consolidated KeyClub earning. The rewards and pricing match the Mastercard Standard exactly. See also the UBS Mastercard Standard.

The Dual-Card Advantage

One CHF 100 fee covers both a Visa and a Mastercard. You get full network flexibility without paying twice. Some merchants or countries favor one network over the other, and having both eliminates that concern.

KeyClub points pool across both cards automatically. There's no split tracking or separate balances. For UBS customers who travel or shop internationally, the dual-card set removes any network guesswork.

KeyClub Earning at Entry Level

2 KeyClub points per CHF 1,000 is the starting rung of UBS rewards. On CHF 30,000 annual spending, you earn 60 points. These combine with earnings from UBS banking products, mortgages, and higher-tier cards.

Apple Pay and Google Pay work on both cards. 1.75% FX fee applies. Additional cards cost CHF 25. The value lives in ecosystem consolidation, not best-in-class earning rates.

What's Not Included

No travel insurance at classic tier. If you fly internationally, you need separate coverage or should consider the Gold upgrade. This card is purely for earning and payments, not protection.

The earning rate trails competitors. Cantonal bank cards and cashback products return more value per franc spent. The draw here is UBS integration, not optimal returns per transaction.

The Bottom Line

The dual-card set is the real selling point: two networks, one fee, shared KeyClub pool. Individually, the Visa matches UBS Mastercard Standard exactly. Compare alternatives in our best credit cards in Switzerland guide.

Verdict: Worth considering for the dual-card set. If you only need one network, the Mastercard Standard is equivalent.

Best For: UBS customers who want both Visa and Mastercard for a single annual fee, KeyClub point collectors consolidating earning across UBS products, travelers who want complete network coverage without choosing sides
Consider Alternatives If: you want travel insurance (upgrade to Gold tier for coverage), you want competitive rewards rates (entry-level earning here), you only need one network (UBS Mastercard Standard offers the same)

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the UBS Visa Card Classic a separate card from the UBS Mastercard Standard?
No. UBS sells them as a paired set: the Classic package includes both the Visa Card Classic and the Mastercard Standard for one annual fee. You don't pick one or the other; you carry both in your wallet. Each additional card beyond the bundled pair (a partner card, say) costs CHF 25 per year.
What does a third card cost beyond the bundled pair?
CHF 25 a year per additional card. The Visa+Mastercard pair is already included in the Classic annual fee, but adding a family member's card pushes you to CHF 25 each. Compared to the Gold tier's CHF 50 per extra, this stays modest. The cap is two extras on top of the bundled pair.
