Our Take on Cornèrcard Greenhope Visa

CHF 30 per new or renewed card plus 0.10% of your spending goes to charity. You pay nothing extra.
The Cornèrcard Greenhope Visa ranks #39 among 122 cashback cards in our ranking. It's a Classic-tier Cornèrcard that funds the Ticino-based Greenhope foundation, which organises sport and family events for children with cancer. From year two it costs CHF 80, less than the Cornèrcard WWF Visa (CHF 85) or the Classic (CHF 100).
What Are You Actually Paying For?
The card itself is Cornèrcard's standard package: 0.3% cashback on CHF purchases and 0.6% in foreign currencies, a 1.2% FX fee and CHF 2,000 purchase protection. You pay CHF 40 in year one and CHF 80 after that, CHF 20 less than the Cornèrcard Classic from year two.
The cashback won't cover the fee for most people. You'd need CHF 26,667 of Swiss spending a year to earn back CHF 80 at 0.3%. So think of the fee as the price of a decent FX rate and purchase protection, with the charity element thrown in at no cost.
What Actually Stands Out
The donation model is the point. Cornèrcard gives Greenhope CHF 30 for every new or renewed credit card, plus 0.10% of all card spending. Spend CHF 15,000 a year and that's another CHF 15. Greenhope says its sponsors cover the foundation's admin costs, so donated francs go to its events.
There's also a prepaid version if you don't want credit: CHF 25 a year up to age 26 and CHF 50 from 26, with Cornèrcard donating CHF 5 per card. And like other Cornèrcard cards, you don't need a Cornèr bank account.
What Most Reviews Miss
The first-year price depends on where you look. Cornèrcard's page says new clients pay CHF 40 instead of CHF 80. Greenhope's own page says the card is free in year one. We show Cornèrcard's figure because it's the issuer, but check the price on your application before you sign.
The cashback only credits once you've collected CHF 25, which at 0.3% takes CHF 8,334 of Swiss spending. Abroad, 0.6% back only covers half the 1.2% FX fee. And there's no travel or medical insurance, so don't book holidays on it expecting cover.
The Bottom Line
If you want your everyday card to support a children's charity and you're happy with basic Cornèrcard terms, this is a sensible pick. If cashback matters most, you'll do better elsewhere. Our best cashback credit cards in Switzerland ranking shows the higher earners.
Verdict: A fairly priced Cornèrcard with a good cause attached. Not a rewards card.

Frequently Asked Questions
- How much does Greenhope get from my Cornèrcard?
- CHF 30 for every new or renewed card, plus 0.10% of your card spending. It costs you nothing extra. Spend CHF 10,000 in a year and the turnover share adds CHF 10, so a new card sends CHF 40 to the foundation in its first year.
- What does an additional Greenhope card cost?
- CHF 25 a year. That's what Cornèrcard charges for each additional card on the Greenhope Visa. Greenhope's share is calculated on the total spending of the cards, so purchases on the additional card raise the 0.10% donation too.
