Zero exchange fee on weekdays, and the cheapest neobank we track. The catch is Swiss integration.
Revolut Standard ranks #3 of 6 Swiss neobanks with 81.3%, and #6 of 46 everyday accounts with 79 out of 100. It takes a perfect 35/35 on cost and 25/25 on digital banking, then loses the category on Swiss integration alone.
CHF 0 per month, CHF 0 to open the account, CHF 0 annual card fee, and virtual cards are free. Local CHF payments, incoming payments, SEPA transfers in euros and standing orders cost nothing either. The two real costs are card delivery, CHF 5.99 standard or CHF 19.99 express, and cash beyond five withdrawals or CHF 200 per rolling month.
Then the part that matters most. Revolut charges no exchange fee on weekdays, up to CHF 1,250 of currency exchange per month, with a 1% fair usage fee above that. neon free charges 0.35% on every conversion, Yuh 0.95%, Bank Cler Zak 2%. On CHF 1,000 of holiday spending, that's CHF 0 against CHF 3.50 to CHF 20.
The foreign currency engine is the reason to open this account. You convert at the Revolut rate with no fee on weekdays, and the free allowance resets every month. Weekends are the exception: from Friday 5pm to Sunday 6pm New York time, a 1% fee applies. Move a large conversion to a Tuesday and it's free.
Scale backs it up. Around 1.3 million people in Switzerland use Revolut, roughly three times Yuh and five times neon, which makes it the largest neobank in the country by customer count. Visa and Mastercard debit cards are issued to Swiss customers by Revolut Switzerland Payments AG, contactless and multi-currency. No minimum deposit, no withdrawal limit, minimum age 18.
Your deposits are not covered by the Swiss scheme. Swiss clients bank with Revolut Bank UAB, a Lithuanian bank licensed by the European Central Bank and supervised by the Bank of Lithuania. Cover comes from the Lithuanian deposit guarantee scheme up to EUR 100,000, not the CHF 100,000 that esisuisse provides. Revolut (Switzerland) AG is a FINMA-authorised representative office, not a Swiss bank licence.
The Swiss IBAN is virtual as well, issued through a partnership with PostFinance and running on PostFinance payment infrastructure while Revolut Bank UAB holds the balance. It's not a native CH IBAN issued under Revolut's own licence. There's no eBill, no QR-bill invoicing, no TWINT and no LSV direct debit, and CHF balances earn 0%.
If your francs mostly move through Swiss rails, the missing eBill, TWINT and LSV will bite within a month. If you travel, get paid in other currencies or send money abroad, nothing else in our neobank set converts cheaper on a weekday. Most Swiss users run Revolut next to a Swiss main account, not instead of one.
In September 2026 Revolut applied to FINMA for a full Swiss banking licence and committed more than CHF 150 million to the Swiss market over five years. The application is under review with no published timeline, so treat native Swiss IBANs, eBill and esisuisse cover as pending. See where it lands in our ranking of the best neobanks in Switzerland.
Verdict: The cheapest account here for foreign currency, and a second account rather than a replacement until a Swiss licence arrives.
