How to redeem the Swissquote promo code
- 1
Copy MKT_GETRATES
Click the button above. The code goes to your clipboard and Swissquote's account opening page opens in a new tab.
- 2
Start opening a Swissquote account
Choose the Swissquote account, not the Forex & CFDs account. The Swissquote app is the quickest way, desktop works too. Have your ID or passport and a proof of address no older than 6 months ready.
- 3
Type MKT_GETRATES in the promo code field
Type it in by hand, even if you came through the button: the link doesn't always carry the code over. The code has to be in the form when you submit it.
- 4
Pay in CHF 1,000 within 3 months
Your first transfer has to come from a bank account in your name (Swissquote asks for at least CHF 500 for it). Reach CHF 1,000 in total within 3 months, in one or several transfers.
Conditions
Type MKT_GETRATES yourself during account opening: the link doesn't always carry the code over.
- For a new Swissquote account opened with MKT_GETRATES in the promo code field.
- Pay in at least CHF 1,000 within 3 months of opening, in one or several transfers. It isn't a fee: the money stays in your account.
- The CHF 100 is trading credit, not cash. Swissquote deducts your broker commissions from it when you trade online.
- One promo code per account opening.
- The offer is for the Swissquote account (trading and banking), not the separate Forex & CFDs account.
What is Swissquote?
Swissquote Bank is a Swiss online bank from Gland (VD), founded in 1996 and supervised by FINMA. Its parent company is listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange. Cash in your account is protected by esisuisse up to CHF 100,000, and the shares and ETFs in your custody account are held separately from the bank's own assets.
One Swissquote account covers trading and banking: shares, ETFs, funds, bonds, options and crypto on 31 stock markets, a multi-currency account in more than 27 currencies, debit cards, savings plans and fractional shares. Swissquote also runs the Yuh app together with PostFinance.
Where the offer applies
Swissquote fees: what does the account cost?
Swissquote charges a fixed commission per order, by tier. A CHF 1,000 order on SIX costs CHF 5.85 and a CHF 5,000 or CHF 10,000 order CHF 29.85, including the CHF 0.85 exchange surcharge. ETFs from the ETF Leaders list cost CHF 9.85 per order above CHF 1,000. A USD 1,000 order in US shares costs about USD 7.31, plus 0.95% when your francs are changed into dollars.
On top come a custody fee of CHF 86.48 to 216.20 a year, depending on the size of your portfolio, and CHF 85 for the tax statement. The CHF 100 trading credit covers the commission on about 17 SIX orders of CHF 1,000, or 3 of CHF 5,000. It doesn't pay the custody fee or the tax statement. Every fee and our rating are in the Swissquote review.
Swissquote vs Saxo vs Yuh
Saxo costs less on most orders: CHF 3 for a CHF 1,000 order on SIX, CHF 4 for CHF 5,000, no custody fee, 0.25% on currency exchange and a free tax statement. Swissquote charges more, but it covers 31 stock markets against Saxo's 19 and adds full banking to the same account.
Yuh belongs to Swissquote and PostFinance, and Yuh accounts are held at Swissquote Bank. Yuh charges 0.50% per trade (CHF 5 on CHF 1,000, CHF 25 on CHF 5,000) and no custody fee, which is cheaper on small orders. From about CHF 6,000 per order, Swissquote's commission is lower, before its custody fee. You can put any two side by side in our broker comparison.
Is the Swissquote promo code worth it?
If you're opening a Swissquote account anyway, MKT_GETRATES takes CHF 100 off your first trading commissions for money that stays yours. The conditions are simple: type the code yourself during opening and pay in CHF 1,000 within 3 months.
Whether Swissquote fits depends on how you invest. Its strengths are the range of markets and products and banking in one Swiss account. Its costs are the custody fee and higher commissions than Saxo or Yuh on small orders. The best brokers in Switzerland ranking puts those numbers next to the other brokers.
Swissquote: frequently asked questions
What is the current Swissquote promo code?
It's MKT_GETRATES. Type it in the promo code field when you open your Swissquote account and pay in at least CHF 1,000 within 3 months. You get CHF 100 in trading credit, and the CHF 1,000 stays in your account.
Is there a Swissquote referral code?
People often search for it as a referral code, but what you need is a promo code typed during account opening: MKT_GETRATES gives you CHF 100 in trading credit. Swissquote's refer-a-friend program is separate and rewards the client who refers you.
Where do I enter the Swissquote promo code?
In the promo code field of the account opening form, in the Swissquote app or on desktop. Type MKT_GETRATES by hand while you open the account: it has to be in the form when you submit it.
The code wasn't applied through the link. What now?
Type it yourself. The link doesn't always carry the code over, so the promo code field can be empty even if you came from this page. If you've already submitted the form without it, contact Swissquote's customer care: we can't add it for you.
Do I have to pay in CHF 1,000, and do I lose it?
You need to pay in at least CHF 1,000 within 3 months of opening, in one or several transfers. You don't lose it: it isn't a fee, the money stays in your Swissquote account and it's yours to invest. Your first transfer has to come from a bank account in your name.
Can existing Swissquote clients use the code?
The code is for opening a new Swissquote account. If you already have one, ask Swissquote before counting on the credit.
When do I receive the CHF 100?
Swissquote hasn't published a date for MKT_GETRATES. The condition is the CHF 1,000 deposit within 3 months of opening.
What can I use the Swissquote trading credit for?
Your broker commissions: when you trade online, Swissquote deducts the commission from the credit automatically. It isn't cash and can't be withdrawn. Check the terms shown when you open the account.
Is Swissquote safe?
Swissquote Bank is a Swiss bank supervised by FINMA, and its parent company is listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange. Cash is protected by esisuisse up to CHF 100,000 per client. Your shares and ETFs are held as segregated assets, so they would be returned to you if the bank failed.
