Our Take on finpension Switzerland 100

99% stocks, about 70% of them Swiss. Strong numbers, but finpension's own Global 100 did better.
finpension Switzerland 100 ranks #21 among 122 3a investment funds in our comparison. It holds 99% stocks and 1% cash, with 69% of the whole portfolio in Swiss companies. It suits long-horizon investors who want an all-equity 3a but would rather keep most of it in francs.
How Does the Return Stack Up?
Well in absolute terms, less well against its sibling. After the 0.39% fee, Switzerland 100 returned 17.65% over one year, 41.95% over three years and 28.41% over five. finpension Global 100, at the same fee and equity level, did 50.30% and 36.99%. That's 8.35 points less over three years and 8.58 over five.
The closest like-for-like peer is BLKB iQ Responsible Equity Switzerland B, 100% Swiss equities at 0.34% all-in. It matches the 28.41% over five years, but this finpension strategy did better over three years (41.95% versus 35.71%) and over one year (17.65% versus 16.13%), for 0.05 points more in fees. Against an all-Swiss fund it holds up well. Against a global one, the home bias shows.
What Actually Stands Out
This isn't a pure Swiss fund. Large Caps Switzerland makes up 49% of the portfolio and Small & Mid Caps 20%. The rest goes to world stocks outside Switzerland (10% unhedged, 10% CHF-hedged), 5% global small caps and 5% emerging markets. That gives you less currency risk than Global 100, with some diversification beyond the Swiss market.
You pay a flat 0.39% a year, all-in: CHF 195 on CHF 50,000, versus CHF 385 at the 0.77% average of the other 3a investment funds in our comparison. The institutional Swisscanto index funds are reserved for pension money and reclaim a large part of the foreign withholding tax on dividends, with no stamp duty on purchases and sales. Swisscanto by Zürcher Kantonalbank is the custodian.
What Most Reviews Miss
Concentration is the real trade-off. Almost half your 3a sits in one fund of large Swiss companies. Swiss stocks lagged world stocks in this period, which is why this strategy has trailed Global 100 over both three and five years. With no bonds and only 1% cash, there's no cushion either.
Then there's findependent Switzerland 100: also Swiss-focused, 0.29% all-in, so CHF 50 a year cheaper per CHF 50,000. Its figures are back-tested, though, since it launched on 19 October 2026. finpension's returns are real and after fees. VIAC Global 100 costs 0.41% all-in, so finpension is CHF 10 a year cheaper there.
The Bottom Line
finpension Switzerland 100 is a low-cost all-equity 3a for investors who want most of their stocks in francs and can live with the concentration. If currency swings don't bother you, Global 100 has returned more at the same price. Compare the options in our guide to the best 3a investment funds in Switzerland. New clients get a small extra: code RTEQJB gives a CHF 25 fee credit once you've paid in CHF 1,000 within 12 months (enter it at sign-up or within 24 hours).
Verdict: A cheap, Swiss-heavy all-equity 3a that beats a pure Swiss fund over three years but has trailed finpension's own Global 100.
