VIAC promo code GETRATE: CHF 2'000 fee-free for life

Open your pillar 3a at VIAC with GETRATE and VIAC never charges its management fee on CHF 2,000 of your money. Not for a year: for as long as you stay. That's double what accepting a normal VIAC friend invite gets you, and VIAC pays us nothing for it.

Conditions

  • For new VIAC customers only, one welcome code per person.
  • Enter GETRATE (7 letters, no S) during registration. If you forgot, contact VIAC support right away and mention the code. We can't promise they'll add it afterwards.
  • You get a fee-free allowance, not cash: VIAC simply skips its management fee on CHF 2,000 of invested assets. Nothing is paid out.
  • The funds' own product costs still apply, as for every VIAC customer.
  • Use the code before 31 Dec 2027. Once applied, the allowance stays for as long as you're a client.

What is VIAC?

VIAC is the Swiss pension app that made the invested pillar 3a mainstream. Three former bankers founded it in 2017 together with WIR Bank. Today the app covers the pillar 3a, vested benefits (Freizügigkeit), VIAC Invest for free assets from CHF 1, and life insurance. You pick a strategy from Global 20 to Global 100 (the number is roughly the share in stocks) or build your own, and every franc you pay in gets invested.

Your 3a is a product of the Terzo Vorsorgestiftung of WIR Bank. Cash that isn't invested sits at WIR Bank and is protected up to CHF 100,000 by the bankruptcy privilege. Securities bought through UBS funds are held by UBS as special assets, so they stay outside any bankruptcy estate. On top of that, VIAC adds free Life Basic cover of CHF 2,500 for disability or death per CHF 10,000 invested.

Where the offer applies

What is CHF 2,000 fee-free worth in francs?

Let's be honest about the size. The code saves you VIAC's management fee on CHF 2,000, and that fee depends on your strategy. Here's what it adds up to with the fees from our VIAC reviews:

Fees saved with the VIAC code by strategy
StrategyVIAC feePer year10 years20 years30 years
Global 200.17%CHF 3.40CHF 34CHF 68CHF 102
Global 400.28%CHF 5.60CHF 56CHF 112CHF 168
Global 600.38%CHF 7.60CHF 76CHF 152CHF 228
Global 800.40%CHF 8CHF 80CHF 160CHF 240
Global 1000.40%CHF 8CHF 80CHF 160CHF 240

Formula: CHF 2,000 × VIAC fee × years. The allowance is a fixed CHF 2,000, so the saving doesn't grow with your balance. If the saved francs stay invested at 5% a year, Global 100 ends up around CHF 530 after 30 years instead of CHF 240.

Where it really shows is early on. With CHF 10,000 in Global 100, you'd normally pay CHF 40 a year. With the code you pay CHF 32, which is an effective fee of 0.32% instead of 0.40%.

What does VIAC cost?

VIAC charges one management fee that covers transactions, custody and the foundation's admin. It runs from 0.17% for Global 20 to 0.40% for the equity-heavy strategies, and VIAC caps it at 0.40% a year whatever you choose. It's calculated monthly on your average invested assets: the cash part of your 3a is never charged.

On top come the funds' own costs, which are tiny at VIAC: 0.01% to 0.06% a year in our data. There's no account fee, no custody fee and no fee for changing strategy. Each review breaks down the full cost: Global 20, Global 40, Global 60, Global 80 and Global 100.

VIAC vs finpension vs frankly

These three apps dominate the invested 3a in Switzerland, and their prices sit close together. finpension charges a flat 0.39% a year, or 0.39% to 0.42% including fund costs. frankly, the ZKB app, charges an all-in fee of 0.44%. VIAC lands at up to 0.40% plus 0.01% to 0.06% in fund costs, and with GETRATE the first CHF 2,000 cost you nothing, which makes VIAC the cheapest of the three on small balances.

So which one? Pick VIAC if you want the most polished app, ready-made strategies and the free life cover. Pick finpension if you want to fine-tune every fund. Pick frankly if the ZKB name matters to you. Our VIAC vs finpension vs frankly comparison goes through fees, strategies and safety in detail.

Is VIAC worth it? Our take

For most people who want an invested 3a with a great app, yes. VIAC is cheap, simple and its Global 100 strategy ranks among the very best in our pillar 3a comparison. The code won't change your life, but it's a free, permanent discount for typing seven letters.

Where I'd hesitate: if you want full control over each fund, finpension is the natural alternative. And if you'd rather sit down with an advisor, an app-only provider isn't for you. Not sure which fund fits? Our best 3a funds ranking compares them all.

VIAC: frequently asked questions

What is the current VIAC code?

It's GETRATE, seven letters, without an S. Enter it in the welcome code field at the end of your VIAC registration and VIAC won't charge its management fee on CHF 2,000 of your assets, for as long as you stay a client. It works until 31 Dec 2027.

Is there a VIAC referral code too?

Yes, but it's worth less. Every VIAC customer has a personal invite code in their app profile, and accepting one gives you a CHF 1,000 fee-free allowance. GETRATE gives you CHF 2,000, so it's the better choice when you open your account.

Can I enter the VIAC code after opening my account?

The code is meant to be entered during registration. If you forgot, write to VIAC support straight away (chat, email or phone) and mention GETRATE, but we can't guarantee they'll add it later. Already a customer? You can still grow your allowance by inviting friends from the app.

Does the code work for VIAC Invest or vested benefits?

The allowance is credited to your VIAC profile, and VIAC's own Invest FAQ treats it as reducing VIAC Invest fees too. VIAC doesn't say anything public about vested benefits, so ask their support before you count on it there.

How much is the VIAC code worth?

Between CHF 3.40 and CHF 8 a year, depending on your strategy, because VIAC's fee runs from 0.17% to 0.40%. Over a 30-year 3a, that's CHF 102 to CHF 240, or roughly CHF 530 for Global 100 if the savings stay invested at 5% a year.

Why GETRATE and not GETRATES?

VIAC's system only accepts codes of up to seven characters, so the code is GETRATE. Typing GETRATES won't work.

Is my money safe at VIAC?

Yes. Your 3a belongs to the Terzo Vorsorgestiftung of WIR Bank, a pension foundation separate from the bank. Uninvested cash at WIR Bank is protected up to CHF 100,000 by the bankruptcy privilege, and fund units held at UBS are special assets that stay yours even if the bank failed.

VIAC or finpension: which is better?

They're neck and neck on cost: VIAC charges up to 0.40% plus small fund costs, finpension a flat 0.39%. VIAC has the friendlier app and free life cover, finpension gives you more control over the funds. With GETRATE, VIAC is cheaper on your first CHF 2,000.

Does GetRates earn money from VIAC?

No. VIAC doesn't run a paid affiliate programme, so we get nothing when you use GETRATE. We list it because it's a genuine benefit for you.
